Hawaii's popular honu grow up to nearly four feet long and weigh as much as 400 pounds by the time it reaches maturity at the average age of 25 years. Wearing a heart-shaped gray-brown shell, interestingly enough, only their body-fat is green. Their head is proportionally much smaller than that of other sea turtles, which makes their dark eyes appear even that much larger. For most Hawaiian sea turtles, they migrate to the quiet shores of the French Frigate Shoals, some 800 miles northwest of Hawaii.
